Why are people so quick to want these kids punished without a care in the world for who they are? When did we become such a noncommitted, selfcentered, self righteous and indifferent people? Have we ever thought that maybe a soft answer would turn away wrath, a kind gesture might breed kindness in return, a thoughtful and selfless response to a very needy group of kids might give them hope?
When did we get too busy to stop and lend a helping hand? When did our hearts grow cold towards people in need of our care, support, warmth, time and a simple smile? These kids are our kids. They are part of the community or rather, they are desperately attempting to tell us they are.
My challenge to the city of Moorpark is simple. Before writing a rebuttal to the article of the B'Light Lifters and members of the community that gave freely of their time to clean up graffiti and having a free barbecue to meet some of the gangs, I challenge other churches to get involved. I call on the city officials to support our efforts.
I say to the community that has plenty, give and it will bless you. To the different organizations, my challenge would be for you to make this a priority and do what you can to get involved or support the efforts being done by the band of people from different walks of life that have shown what we are all capable of.
What are you doing with your life to make a difference to your community and the people that live in it?" Bren Mercado Moorpark
Dearest Bren:
Stop trying to make excuses for vandalism. Kids are retarded. I don't care about their problems. All I care about is oiling my body, loving my hamster, and looking out my window at a clean town
